Whether lecturing about coating technology to students at a university or setting up a new pressure sensitive operation in Germany, Watson Consulting has been quietly sharing web coating knowledge with companies the world over.

Realizing that learning curves can be significantly shortened and costly mistakes avoided by consulting with experts who "have been there before", US and foreign companies involved in web coating and converting have turned to Chris Watson, head of Watson Consulting & Associates, LLC

Watson's involvement with coating technologies goes back to the 1960's. After graduating with a degree in chemistry from The King's College, he was made Project Leader for coated products at Riegel Paper. During this time, he also did graduate work in Polymer Science.

Watson has been a successful independent consultant in the field of silicone, pressure sensitive, and various web-coating and converting processes for over 35 years. He has advised such firms as Fasson, Coated Products - Division of Essex Chemical Corp., Mystic Tape, Avery-Dennison, 3M, Polaroid, Kodak, Proctor & Gamble, OpSec (the world’s largest security film manufacturer), the Bank of Canada, FLEXcon, NCR, Reynolds Flexible Packaging, Eli Lilli, KDP in France, Sterling Coated Products in England, Renker in Germany, and Lohja in Finland.

In addition, Watson has held positions as National Sales Director of Geometric Machine & Design and as President of Kroenert Corp., both of  which are coating and laminating machinery manufacturers

Watson has served as chairman of both the Hot Melt and Silicone Committees of theTechnical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry. Also he has lectured frequently in the US and Europe and is a contributing author to the Handbook of Pressure Sensitive Technology
